I agree; this is the best response to Obama's speech. I was hoping Bishop D'ARcy would organize a nationwide Eucharistic Procession to surrond the scandal of Obama.

There's nothig more powerful to combat abortion or hardened hearts than the Eucharist. I suggest not only ND have a huge one on C-day, but the entire country.

The Procession looks very much like the great welcoming of Our Lord on that first Palm Sunday 2000years ago. I hope Notre Dame does not do to Our Lord what the others did on that very first Good Friday by denying Him as their Lord . Obama, a believer in infanticide, does not belong giving a speech at a Catholic College!

Notre Dame needs to hold a Eucharistic Congress in REPARATION for the honoring of a pro-abortion President. This Procession is nice, but against that backdrop, strikes me as hypocritical for the Richard McBriens and others. IF you are CATHOLIC, boot McBrien and other heretics and stop even thinking about honoring abortionists.

Its funny, but most of us around here (Notre Dame) tend to forget all about McBrien. At Notre Dame, he's totally past his prime, people don't even to seem to argue about him anymore.

By most people, his presence isn't really noticed. What's weird is that in reading some comments, people outside of Notre Dame seem to view him as some sort of icon of Notre Dame. I guess those old images

For the record (not sure it's really relevant), but Fr. McBrien is not a CSC.

He is from a diocese in either New Hampshire of Connecticut, if my memory serves correctly.

As for the picture that looks like Jesus, the guy is a seminarian (unfortunately not for CSC!)

I didn't see Father Richard McBrien in attendance, but then he probably would have appeared in civies. Too bad Notre Dame gave him a place on its faculty.

How is the Mass under the extraordinary form doing? Why not a Solemn High Mass in the basilica itself for some major feast or holyday?

Its no wonder the Holy Cross order is seeing an increase in vocations like it says in one of the posts down below. Obviously, the fact that Corpus Christi occurs in June, after the end of the academic year, is the decisive factor in picking the date.

But I think it makes a nice parallel to have the campus-wide Stations of the Cross processing through the quads in Lent, and then have the campus-wide Eucharistic Procession processing through the quads in Easter Season. It seems fitting!
