Na Zdrowie! The Kloska Family Blog
In 1962, Irv Kloska and Bonnie Kowrach stood in St. Adalbert's Basilica in Grand Rapids and pledged their lives to each other. More than 40 years and 13 children later, their family has grown to more than 70 members... and counting. With this blog we keep in touch and share our thoughts - much like we have always done around our kitchen table. But like our table, friends are always invited. Welcome!

Please say a prayer for Bobby
So, Bobby's back in the hospital. I was waiting to post it, thinking maybe he or Margy would want to -but I think they've been busy. I heard it is up on their facebook, though, -so it must be public knowledge already. We've been getting phone calls.
Basically his platelets are way low -the normal range is 130-450,000 and he has 1,000. Blood platelets are what cause your blood to clot. The doctors are thinking this has been caused by a delayed reaction to his bone marrow transplant from me last year. If you remember, they had to kill all of his cells and replace them with mine. Well, BK's cells must have been lookin' for a fight -the doctors think that maybe one or two survived and it has taken 2 years for them to multiply exponentially enough to pick a fight with my cells. None of this is confirmed, since some of his tests can't be run until they have the platelets under control. I spent a great 2 1/2 hours with him up at the hospital this morning -his spirits are high and we had great bonding (just like the good 'ol days in Chicago). Please pray that this will be resolved as quickly as possible -I think his wife and children would appreciate him home and healthy for Christmas.

Please say a prayer for Isabel
The newest addition to our Kloska family -Isabel Rose (BJ and Ali's month old daughter) is presently in the Pediatric ICU at St. Joe Med Center. They don't think she is sick with anything super-serious -just a high fever which means an unidentified infection of some kind -but they have her there because it is dangerous in general for a baby so little to be so sick. They've done a bunch of tests and hopefully by tomorrow or the next day they will know exactly what she is fighting and be able to determine if they can send her home. She presently is on IV antibiotics. BJ is being Mr. Mom with his other little four at home, and Ali is up there 24/7 with her. Hopefully they will have everything figured out soon -but in the meantime please say some extra prayers for her. It has not been pain-free for her with all those awful tests they needed to run.
Thanks for the prayers!
