Life in Manila -Part 2 -the Neighborhood
These are just pictures of how average people live... it was hard to get pictures because I did not want to be walking around with a camera in such poor areas. Although the people are not embarrassed by their poverty and love to smile, something just seemed wrong about doing that. The first ones I took from a taxi window on the way to the airport (you will be able to tell from how 'far away' they look). Others we took while walking around the neighborhood. They might all begin to look the same, but they are not. Each has a family, a story, its own 'life' within the walls. I'll write more about the serious poverty (people living in the trash dump and 'under the bridge') next time:
In 1962, Irv Kloska and Bonnie Kowrach stood in St. Adalbert's Basilica in Grand Rapids and pledged their lives to each other. More than 40 years and 13 children later, their family has grown to more than 70 members... and counting. With this blog we keep in touch and share our thoughts - much like we have always done around our kitchen table. But like our table, friends are always invited. Welcome!

Hey, our Sisters are there. You should look them up! :)
Hey sis,
Now I'm in Poland. But if you tell me where they are, I'll let Tomek know... it would be nice for them to have such a connection.
