Your Political Compass

Linked by the headline above is a website survey that shows where you fall on the spectrum of political opinions. These things can never be totally accurate because of the limitations of language. But the do give you a ballpark estimation of where you stand. I answered questions and got the following answers:

Economic Left/Right: -4.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.31

This means on matters of economics, I tend not to favor pure free market capitalism. On social issues, I tend to be slightly more authoritarian than libertarian. Their so-called experts put Pope Benedict in the same quadrant as me, but not quite as close as I would expect. I think they are probably not Catholic and don't study Benedict as closely as I do. Or perhaps there are questions I interpreted in a different way than they did. My guess is that he would be closer to my position than they put him. Take the test and post your score in the comment box. Then we can insult and make fun of each other.

So... I did the test because you told us to, Bobby, but I do have to admit that I honestly don't understand exactly what this means. I just answered the questions -they weren't that hard.

Economic Left/Right: -5.6
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.05

Does this mean that somehow I've turned into a Liberal Communist? (Maybe the years in Russia)... If I am understanding this right, I think that is really funny. But when I look at the other options, I'm happy that I fall where I do -I would never want to be Authoritarian and I'd never want to be for the dog eats dog Captialist mentality. I think I'm close to Ghandi... that's good, right?

So you can all have a good laugh that Mary is a Liberal Commy... and since my answers were more extreme than most of yours, the rest of you can freely answer without fearing insult.

I'm not exactly sure what that means, but Gandhi was pretty close to me on the website, lol.

I have no idea what this means. Very thought provoking questions though. I would like to take the test in 6 months again and see if my score remains close.

This is really funny. I thought that many questions could have several subtle variations in meaning which would lead to not-so-subtle differences in response. To be accurate I think they would require an actual conversation. This is why I only minored in business and majored in philosophy. My result? -3.75 Economic; -1.38 Social ....still not convinced it's accurate, but it's interesting. :)

Apparantly Lisa we are on-target with the Social...a little different on the economic...but together as siblings...Alot of different interpretations of these questions, but, I agree, pretty interesting.

All authority should be questioned? My answer: Strongly disagree. God's authority should not be questioned. God's authority is included in all authority. Also, parental authority generally should not be questioned by young ones. So not all authority should be questions. You American libertarians are making me nervous. :)
